 Week 1 B: Social Media Use Today 

    Hey class so my thoughts on social media and how it is used today are kind of mixed. For the most part I think social media is a great tool and benefits a lot of people who have a business. Especially the small family owned businesses. I had a lot of family and friends who had small businesses survive the financial struggles the pandemic brought because of social media. Even though I think social media is great I also believe it has created a lot of issues on all levels, from personal individual issues to issues that affect whole countries and their societies. I don't want to go too deep into the issues but just like with everything too much consumption of social media is bad, but overall I think it has done a lot of good we just have to find a balance. 

    For me personally I use social media for personal use, I have Facebook, Snap chat, and Instagram. Facebook is probably the social media app I use the most. Snap chat I mainly use it to communicate with friends and family because I only have people I know personally. I have Instagram but I find myself deleting the app all the time because I can get stuck scrolling for hours so I try to avoid that by removing the app from my phone. I want to start my own business at some point in my life, I don't know exactly what that is yet but I know I will use social media to help build my company. 

    I personally use social media everyday to just stay in touch with friends and family. This is important to me because I am originally from Chicago and have not gone home in two years. Social media apps like Snap chat make it easy to keep in touch with my family and friends. I also like to go on Facebook and Instagram to buy stuff I might need. For example Facebook has a page called San Diego market place where you can find all sorts of things you might need and for a good price. That is one example of how I use Social media. In the future I would like to use social media to build a company and make it profitable. Social media is an amazing tool with a lot of benefits, but just like any other tool it could be used to either build or destroy so we have to be mindful of how we use it.  

 Week 1A: Blog Theme

    Hey class the blog theme that I chose is travel. The reason why I chose travel as my theme is because I love to travel and want to continue to travel. The last two years have been really rough because I have not been able to travel anywhere because of COVID but hopefully that changes at the end of this year. I am originally from Chicago I would usually go home twice a year but I have not been able to go home since January of 2020. I plan on posting pictures of my trip back home once I go and I also plan on posting about all the great food I have missed out on. 

    For the mean time I plan to go to Tijuana to visit family which I guess counts as travel. I planned to go to Ensenada Mexico next month, which I will post about once I get back. I love going to Mexico but the border towns seem to be a little dangerous especially in recent years. I have uncles and cousins who live down there so that is why I am going down, if it were not for them I would not go. I want my blog to be about the places I visit and the food I eat because those are my two favorite things to do. 

    The only real edits I did to my blog was the width of the home screen. The reason why I did this is because I want the background picture to be more visible especially when I decide to change it to a picture I take. I also changed the colors of some of the words in my blog because I really like gray and blue colors when reading them on a computer screen. I don't like to look at the bright colored words of a computer screen it makes my eyes hurt. I'm excited to start this class and begin posting more blogs on my page. I might also post about some of my favorite areas in San Diego, my dog Dojo might also make an appearance.
