Week 9 Part B: Using Categories

Even though my business will primarily be Mexican food I will also support and post other food establishments on my page. I love food and great food always has a story to tell, whether it is an old family recipe or something you created food brings people together. I will categorize my post by making sure my audience knows when it is food from my own business, and food from another business. I want my audience to interact with me as well by recommending new food spots they would want me to review.

Week 9 Part A: Blogs, Vlogs, Podcasts & Webinars

Adding human interest and personal touch is very important when Vlogging for your online business. I work in sales and one of the ways we get people to buy from us is to have them like us by sharing a piece of personal information. I specifically work in gym membership sales, when I have a potential new member in front of me I always try to make myself more personable to the person in front of me. I usually do this by sharing a personal story about my own fitness journey and why I workout. I try to build value in my product which is the gym. I don't always do this because some people don't want to talk they just want to sign up and get information as fast as possible. It is the same with blog posts, some of your blogs can be specifically on business but others can be focused on more personal reasons. A good time for this is when you want to emotionally get your viewers emotionally invested in your product and what you have to say. One thing I have been told at my job is "Buyers like to buy from people they like". For my own taco business I can make a post about how tacos was what my family ate every time we celebrated a person in my family, and how now whenever I eat tacos it reminds of my family and the love we have for each other. I think that is a good way to get viewers and buyers more interested in your business. That is also a positive image I described above which makes people also think about my business in a positive way. One business that used to do this a lot was a business called Chicago Native which is a clothing brand. Every time they would drop a piece of merchandise they would post about how much they love the city and how we need to support each other as a community. This made the business look really personable which worked because they would always sell out of their merchandise. I definitely think more businesses should write more personable blogs because they will be able to connect with their audience on a deeper level. If people don't like you or don't trust you they will never buy from you let alone take time out of their day to read your blog posts. That is why writing blogs that have human interest or personal touch are really successful.

Week 8 Part B: Your Instagram Hashtag Use

The Hashtags I used were #tacotuesday #carneasada #dojostacos #california #sandiego #sandiegofood #farmersmarket #foodie #foodiegram #streettacos #nightmarket #tacos. I found these hashtags from popular restaurants that I follow and also have a bunch of followers. The hashtag that I make sure to use on every post is taco Tuesday, and I also make sure to post every Tuesday for taco Tuesday. I also used the hashtags California, and San Diego because my business will be in San Diego California. The one hashtag that I came up with was Dojos taco stand, the reason why I used that hashtag is my business is called Dojos taco stand. I added my post on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays. On those days I posted at noon and at 6:30pm. The reason why I posted on Tuesday is because everybody knows about taco Tuesday, and if they don't they will. The reason why I posted on the other days was because I want to post as often as I can, the more posts you make the higher chances you have for people to see your post. I learned the more you post the more followers and likes you get. This is important because the more people that know about your business the more money you can potentially make.

Week 8 Part A: How to Expand Your Reach on Instagram by Using Hashtags

The first business I researched is Lucha Libre taco shop, the reason why I searched them up is because they sell tacos just like I plan to. I've been to their restaurant before and they make great food. I have been following them on Instagram for a couple of years and they seem to be doing great on that platform. They post almost daily. They also use a lot of hashtags on their posts which seems to work for them because they have fifteen thousand followers. Their hashtags are not just related to food, they are also related to lucha libre which is big in the Mexican community. Some of the hashtags they use I think would really work for me, for example the hashtag foodie and food-porn I think would help my business because those are very popular hashtags. Lucha Libre is a great local San Diego restaurant that I recommend everyone checks out!

The second business I looked up for this blog post is city tacos. Just like the first business I chose city tacos because they sell tacos just like how I want to. Their food is also really great, and they seem to use Instagram really well because they have 1800 pictures on their page. They post daily and use hashtags on most of their posts, they seem to use hashtags differently though as they seem to post the hashtags as comments on their original post. They have about fifteen thousand followers on Instagram, which makes sense because they have 8 physical locations. They also post daily sometimes two or three times a day. Their last post was today 4 hours ago. The one hashtag I would take away from them is taco Tuesday because everyone knows about taco Tuesday. I would make hashtags about the locations I'm at because that will be sure to get eyes on your business in the community you wish to be at. Those hashtags are the ones I would take away from them I just wouldn't put them as a comment under the post.

The third business I looked up was Gabby' Funnel Cakes which is also my family's  business back home in Chicago. This business has just started using Instagram this year even though they have been around for 7 years now. They do use hashtags on their post which is good because all the other big businesses use hashtags. They have 160 posts on their page which is good considering they have only been on Instagram for a year. They post daily at the beginning of the year but have slowed only posting once a week sometimes once every three weeks. They have about two thousand followers which is not bad for a small family owned business in Chicago. Their last post was 5 days ago and it was a picture of people waiting in line to receive their orders. The one thing I really like about this page that I will take is the style of pictures they use. Their page is filled with pictures of their food like funnel cakes and aguas frescas. I think this is great because this makes their page really colorful and pleasing to look at. I got hungry just scrolling through their page. This is something I want for my own page, I want people to get hungry by just looking at my pictures.

The last and final page I looked up was Primos tacos which is a local food market here in Vista. I love this place because every Tuesday for taco Tuesday they sell 69 cent tacos. Primos uses Instagram really well because at their store they put up pictures of customers that have tagged them in pictures. Even though they use Instagram a lot they do not use very many hashtags. This doesn't seem to affect them at all since they have 6500 followers on Instagram. They also post almost daily sometimes posting twice a day, their last was yesterday. They 298 posts on their page which is really good but also not as much as places like city tacos and lucha libre. The one thing I love about their page that I will use on my own page is how well they interact with the community and their followers. They always respond to their followers and seem to post them on their page and at their store. They also receive many comments which is a great sign because it shows the community really loves them.

Those four pages I have posted about are all successful and it is no surprise that they all use Instagram to better their businesses. I will take a little from all these pages and use them to further my own business.

Week 7 Part B: How Other Businesses Use Instagram

I think it is really cool how my other classmates are using Instagram. The Protein for Pets page was really cool and I like how they posted pictures and descriptions of their products. I have a dog so it really caught my attention and I am definitely going to visit them in person soon and get my dog some beef bones! The playground podcast page is cool because they do not offer a physical product but they are promoting themselves through their Instagram page which many pod-casters do today. Encinitas donuts is another awesome page I like how they put up pictures of their donuts and they put up the times when they are open on their posts. I will add that to my own business page because it will make it easy for my followers and clients to follow me. The one page that I follow is called Gaby's funnel cakes and they sell funnel cakes and agua frescas. The one thing that I like that they do is post pictures of their customers buying from their stand. They also post the pictures they are tagged in on their video reel. I will definitely take that from them and add it to my own page. I also noticed that a lot of pages with a product post videos of their customers either using their tools or eating their food. I think this really captures the moment and gets more people to want to try to buy your stuff. The protein for pets page posts videos of dogs eating their food, I think this is great to convince people to buy from them. I like how all these pages are different but they all have the same goal. It is also cool because they are local spots we can check out.

Week 6 Part B: Creating and Scheduling Facebook posts.

I tried to schedule my posts but my Facebook account got disabled. I was going to post 3 updates on my profile. I was first going to post about what my food menu would look like. The second post I wanted to detail where I would be located and what times I would be operating. The last post I wanted to put up was a picture of what my taco stand would look like. I wanted to schedule my facebook post for Monday, Thursday, and Friday at 10am and 6pm. The reason why I want to post at those times and days is because that is when you will have the most eyes on your posts.
