Week 13 Part A: Online Advertising - Analysis of the Marketplace
The two social media platforms that have been using the most recently have been Facebook and Instagram, and the ads that I get the most are food ads and clothing ads. What gets my attention to these ads is the way they structure their posts. If they have multiple products to post they give each product their own picture or their post. Nike and Adidas do a great job of advertising their products. They usually make cool videos for their products. Food pages that get my attention usually post pictures or videos of their clients eating their food. All these images and videos get my attention and the videos are always entertaining. The ads I find annoying are the ones that just post a person talking and that are not funny. State-farm for example I don't use them for insurance and don'y plan on switching to them but their commercials are entertaining and I always enjoy them. If I needed insurance I would choose them simply because of their videos.
I believe social media is a lot more effective for advertising because no one really watches TV anymore. Everyone gets most of their advertising from social media. The last time I have seen an ad was during the Superbowl when they have all their commercials. I get a lot of commercials when it comes to movies and insurance companies, that is something I am not really interested in. I also get a lot of ads that I might have talked about or googled. I used to find it really intrusive but now I don't really mind it. Companies spend millions every year on advertising and I can see why. There have been times when I have been lured to buy things because I saw an ad on social media. If I had a big business I would definitely spend the money on advertising.
Week 12 Part B: Business Specific Tools
I looked at four of my classmates blog posts for this week and it was really insightful to know what business tools they would use or are currently using. Some of them actually have a business and have experience using some of these tools that were mentioned in last week's blog posts. The one thing that was pretty obvious from the beginning was that a lot of them would use Meet Up because they think it is great to connect with other like minded individuals. What makes Meet Up great as well is that you can also meet others through zoom which makes it easy to connect with people who might not be in your city.
Another tool that someone wrote about was Hivebrite, this was interesting to me because I have never heard of it. I checked it out and it seems like a great tool to use because it lets you connect with people who are in the same field as you. They write about issues and also give you tips they have used to help you build your business. I think this is great because connecting with like minded individuals is inspiring and motivating to push forward when you might feel stuck. somebody also posted about going to seminars to learn and network, I have never done that before but I think I will start going to business seminars to learn. I think we live a great time where there are a lot of tools to help us elevate our businesses, back in the day there weren't as many tools to promote yourself and if you did find one it would probably cost a lot of money! I definitely plan to take advantage of these tools to help build my business for the future!

Week 12 Part A: Using Business Specific Online Tools
There are a lot of tools you can use to elevate your business to the next level. I am not a big fan of TikTok but I can't deny that it is a great tool to use because of the reach it has with the youth and even adults. For my business I might consider creating a TikTok to promote my business and food. The one creator I can think of that used this platform to catapult his business is Sally slices. Sal took over his parents restaurant and took it to the next level. The way he did this was with the help of TikTok, he made a lot of short reels of his restaurant paired with music and it was a big hit. He got so popular that he has been featured on Dave Pourtnoy from bar-stool pizza reviews videos on YouTube. He was also recently on the first we feast YouTube channel where he was a guest making pizzas. Sally slices is not the only person to make a career from TikTok but that guy who drank the cranberry juice skateboarding to a Fleetwood Mac song also made some money from TikTok. The second online tool that I would use for my business would be Yelp, there are many reasons why I would use their platform. The biggest reason why I would use Yelp is they are a great platform for your consumers to express how they feel about your business. If you are doing a great job you have nothing to worry about and can expect a lot of positive reviews. Those positive reviews can help propel your business forward. Also a lot of people that are not from the area use Yelp to help them find new restaurants, this opens you up to a bigger market of people who are not from the area. The last tool I would use is google, the reason why I would make a google business account is for one simple reason, everyone uses Google! Putting my business on Google will probably bring the most eyes to my business, which is something I want. Those the the online tools I would use to connect my business with a lot of people.
Week 11 Part B: Marketing With Other Social Media Comments

The one thing that almost everybody had in common was that they used tik tok to promote their business. I was a little surprised because I thought more people would use LinkedIn to promote their business and themselves. I think tik tok is very useful because a lot of people especially the younger crowd are using tik tok. I don't have a tik tok account but I understand why it is so popular. I might create an account in the future even though I really don't want to.
Week 11 Part A: Marketing with Twitter, Tik Tok, Google for Business, LinkedIn, and more.
Back in 2016 when I was getting out of the military, people kept telling me to create a LinkedIn account because it would help me in the job market. At the time I didn't really understand it and even though I did create an account, I never used it. As I got older and talked to friends who graduated college and had good jobs, I would ask them how they landed the jobs they had. They all would almost immediately tell me it was because LinkedIn and the connections they were able to make on the platform. This makes sense because I also just found out that LinkedIn is the world's largest professional network on the internet.
I just downloaded the app on my phone and have begun to work on my profile. I still got about two years until I graduate from college but when I do I want to be ready and have plenty of options when it comes to landing a great job that I will not only enjoy but also make a decent living. That is important because California is crazy expensive. I used the profile I created back in 2016 but I updated with all the skills I have gained throughout the years because I have worked a lot of different jobs after I got out of the military.
There are plenty of ways to get access to LinkedIn, the easy one for me is on my phone through the app. But you can also access it through your desktop or android phone. Like I said earlier I updated my profile because a complete LinkedIn profile can help showcase all your skills, experiences, and education. Another cool feature on LinkedIn is that you can organize offline events, join groups, write articles, and display pictures. You might not think a picture is important but having a good picture on your LinkedIn profile can make you more appealing to employers. I remember when I was getting out of the military a private organization came to on base event and gave us free suits so we use them for interviews and profile pictures for our LinkedIn profile pictures. That is the only thing I have left to complete my profile, a good picture of me in a suit.
I definitely recommend LinkedIn to anyone who wants to land a great job in the career field they have chosen. I just got back on LinkedIn so I can't speak from personal experience but I have plenty of friends who got great jobs from LinkedIn. I have one friend who always wanted to study cancer as a career, now thanks to LinkedIn he works at a cancer research facility in Chicago. I have another friend who got a high paying manager position job working for the stockyards in San Francisco and Seattle thanks to LinkedIn. I also have another friend who works in the gym industry, he is the vice president of sales for the company, he was able to land that job because he was working for a different gym company but was able to connect with the one he works for now because of LinkedIn.
LinkedIn has so many benefits when it comes to finding the right career or getting connected to the right person who can help you land your dream job. To be honest I am not a big fan of social media to begin with, but LinkedIn is completely different because it is more professional than Twitter or Facebook. I want to do something in the news world, that is why I want to be a journalist. My dream job would be to work in the sports world as a journalist whether it is writing an article or interviewing athletes after they are done playing. I know the best shot I have to landing the job I want is through LinkedIn, that is why I think anyone who is serious about their career should have a profile, even if you think you don't need one, it doesn't hurt to just create one. And the best thing about it is that it's free to create an account. Last thing I would love to connect with all my classmates on LinkedIn so add me if you want guys!
